Marketing Communications Specialist

Status:  Full time – 40 hours per week

Lyngblomsten, an award-winning Christian nonprofit organization serving older adults through healthcare, housing, and community-based services, is hiring for a Marketing Communications Specialist (Focus Areas: Graphic Design & Digital Marketing). The specialist is responsible for producing and distributing a variety of materials through traditional and digital communication channels, with the goal of advancing Lyngblomsten’s communication and marketing objectives. This position is a blend of graphic design and digital marketing.

The posted pay range of this hourly position is $28.85 to $33.66. The actual rate of pay offered within this range may depend on several factors, such as FTE, skills, knowledge, relevant education, experience, and market conditions. Additionally, our organization values pay equity and considers the internal equity of our team when making any offer. Hiring at the maximum of the range is not typical.


The Marketing Communications team serves as an in-house marketing/design/PR agency for Lyngblomsten.  We help achieve the mission of bettering the lives of older adults by providing high quality, highly relevant work, along with advancing Lyngblomsten’s reputation through strategic public relations, transparent constituent communications, and solid brand management.

Key Responsibilities:

Job focus areas for this Marketing Communications Specialist are graphic design and digital marketing. Key responsibilities include the following:

  • Design and produce print and publicity materials (e.g., magazine, brochures, invitations, programs, annual reports, ads, signage), including developing appropriate layouts, placing text and photos, and preparing correct file formats and sizes
  • Prepare project files for turnover to printer and other vendors; interface with vendors, especially printing, signage, mailhouse services, and promotional/imprinted items
  • Create components (e.g., text, graphics, slides) for electronic distribution, including on websites, email campaigns, social media channels, and slideshows
  • Assist clients (i.e., internal departments) with modifying and updating their communication materials (e.g., flyers, newsletters)
  • Help develop, execute, manage, and monitor digital marketing initiatives, specifically email campaigns, social media, and digital ads
  • Help coordinate the ongoing functionality of Lyngblomsten’s websites, including creating, testing, and deploying new content (e.g., copy, web pages/sections, submission forms), developing a schedule for reviewing and updating content, and interfacing with website vendors for troubleshooting and technical requests
  • Take photos and prepare them for print and digital use
  • Monitor analytics for digital initiatives (e.g., website traffic, email campaigns); provide reporting and recommendations as requested
  • Help the team produce videos for promotional, informative, or educational purposes
  • Participate effectively in a team setting and communicate regularly with project stakeholders, helping to ensure deliverables meet the project vision, specifications, and timeline
  • Work occasional evenings and weekends, as needed


Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, graphic design, visual communications, marketing, digital media, or related field
  • 2 or more years of successful, related professional experience
  • Strong skills with Adobe Creative Suite programs (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Acrobat Pro)
  • Comfortable doing design on a PC platform (Windows Suite and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Experience preparing print files for production
  • Experience interfacing with vendors for print, signage, mailhouse services, and promotional/imprinted items
  • Experience with tools used for website content management, social media management, and CRM
  • Experience with basic HTML and CMS (ideally WordPress)
  • Knowledge of SEO/SEM best practices and trends and experience optimizing web content accordingly
  • Experience designing, testing, and sending emails as part of marketing campaigns
  • Strong writing, spelling, and proofreading skills
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to details
  • Experience with digital analytics and online advertising a plus
  • Experience taking photos for publications using a DSLR camera a plus
  • Experience capturing and editing video footage for marketing projects a plus
